Job summary

Columbia Basin College (CBC) is seeking an Academic Advisor – Tutor Coordinator to provide academic advising, coordinate tutoring services, and support college readiness programming for Upward Bound participants. The role develops individualized educational plans, trains tutoring staff, coordinates student workshops, and maintains grant records to help students achieve their goals.

This is a full-time, grant-funded position with on-campus responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an institutionally accredited college or university.
• Experience in education, counseling, or academic advising.
• Possession of a valid U.S. driver's license or ability to obtain one before date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess students' academic, educational, and career needs; develop and monitor IEPs; provide individualized academic advising and support.
• Recruit eligible participants; monitor program participation; ensure student engagement in required activities.
• Guide students through college preparation and admissions processes; provide information on college entrance exams, applications, financial aid, scholarships, and planning.
• Develop, coordinate, and facilitate workshops related to career planning and college readiness for students and staff.
• Coordinate tutoring services by organizing tutoring sessions and documenting services and progress.
• Maintain program databases; track participant outcomes; support grant objectives through academic support services.
• Collaborate with project staff to implement grant goals and supervise students during summer components.
• Build relationships with schools, departments, and community agencies to coordinate services and increase access.
• Coordinate and supervise college visits, educational travel, and events to promote college awareness.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on admissions requirements and student support best practices.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
