Job summary

CNBC is looking for a sharp, insightful stock picker who can uncover compelling investment ideas and write or explain them on air with clarity and authority.

The candidate will identify opportunities through deep research, financials analysis, and conversations with analysts, investors and industry leaders, and must be fluent in balance sheets and valuation metrics. Hybrid work from Englewood Cliffs, NJ is offered.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of writing similar content at another major publication or as a sell-side or buy-side research analyst.
• Knowledge of financial markets and investment strategies.
• Strong journalistic writing and research skills.
• Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
• The ability to work effectively in a high-intensity environment, often under tight deadline pressures to produce differentiated written research
• A collaborative approach that welcomes working with teams.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities through deep research, rigorous analysis of company financials and market trends, and conversations with leading analysts, investors and industry leaders.
• They should have no qualms about reaching out to C-suite executives or reporting on the ground to gather insights firsthand.
• The ideal candidate is fluent in balance sheets, income statements, and valuation metrics, and can recognize when changes in these figures may signal a shift in a company’s prospects.
• They will be well-sourced among Wall Street professionals and skilled at turning those relationships into actionable insights and fresh perspectives.
• They will work closely with our team of analysts to coordinate and collaborate on research and analysis.
• Their research should consider the impact of outside forces such as technological changes, regulation and the economy.
• Their writing and on-air analysis should combine the depth of a Wall Street analyst with the accessibility of a skilled communicator, helping CNBC’s audience understand not just what to buy or sell, but the thinking behind each idea.
