Job summary

A leading aerospace company in North Charleston is seeking a contract engineer to design and analyze manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and has over 3 years of experience in a production environment. Compensation ranges from $55 to $60 per hour with optional benefits including medical and 401K. This is an on-site position.

This posting is for a contract assignment and is not a full-time employment offer with Boeing. Candidates selected for roles will be employed as contract workers through a Boeing approved 3rd party for the duration of the specified project.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluates program and project requirements, develops complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System.
  • Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine effects on product engineering design and rate estimates, identifies robotics, automation or technology recommendations and system integration for equipment and tooling.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.
  • Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares.
  • Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel.
  • Develops and implements work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation.
  • Performs studies and makes recommendations for disposition of assets.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Designs, analyzes and modifies aerospace manufacturing equipment and tooling that meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Researches, develops, evaluates and integrates robotics, automation, and new technologies and processes related to equipment and tooling for applicability to programs and products.
  • Teams with cross-functional subject matter experts to develop and review bids and procurement specifications.
  • Estimates, plans, manages and executes the acquisition and modification of equipment and tooling.
  • Develops and implements testing and acceptance to validate performance.
  • Creates and maintains related documentation for equipment and tooling, develops preventative maintenance plans and trains personnel as needed.
  • Develops and implements interim solutions for damaged and unsafe equipment and tooling.
  • Investigates engineering changes and controls equipment and tooling configuration in accordance with company procedures.
  • Develops and recommends equipment reliability improvements through the application of reliability engineering tooling.
Qualifications
  • Basic Qualifications (Required): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 3 or more years of experience working in a production and/or manufacturing environment.
  • 3 or more years of experience using Microsoft Office and office computing systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Model Based Definition, CATIA, ENOVIA and PDM.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience providing product definitions and technical support to groups, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
Pay and Benefits
  • Pay Rate Range: Min $55, Max $60 per hour (USD)
