Responsibilities

• Maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and complete annual basic training and CPR certification renewal.
• Communicate effectively with OR staff, including Service Coordinators, Nurse Managers, Surgeons, Anesthesia, SPD, and Nursing Units.
• Operate radios professionally, respond promptly to calls, and communicate delays or issues appropriately.
• Complete assignments timely, maintain sterile rooms, and stock surgical supplies as needed.
• Assist with setup and handling of specialized OR equipment, attend in-services for new equipment, and ensure proper equipment care and maintenance.
• Report equipment issues, return items to proper places, and keep equipment clean.
• Work independently, seek guidance when needed, and be available for 'On Call' duties during weekends and holidays.
• Monitor autoclave biological testing, document results, and maintain autoclave functions.
• Transport specimens to the lab accurately and on time.
• Provide safe patient transportation to the OR, identify yourself properly, and communicate professionally.
• Follow patient identification and HIPAA confidentiality policies.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety, communicate concerns, and maintain a clean, safe OR environment following universal precautions and AORN guidelines.
• Handle biohazard waste correctly, report out-of-order equipment, and assist nursing staff as needed.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned, adhering to organizational standards and behaviors.
