ABOUT THE ROLE

The Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, preparing, testing, and servicing durable medical equipment to ensure equipment is safe, clean, functional, and ready for patient use. This role has a particular focus on respiratory equipment, including performing preventative maintenance (PM), basic troubleshooting, and routine maintenance on ventilators in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company procedures. The Equipment Technician works closely with Respiratory Therapists, Customer Service, Billing, Purchasing, and Operations to support equipment availability, timely repairs, accurate documentation, and quality patient service. This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

WHAT YOU’ll DO
  • Receives, cleans, tests, tags, and prepares new and returned equipment for patient use.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and routine maintenance on ventilators and other respiratory equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company procedures.
  • Identifies equipment malfunctions or safety concerns and escalates issues requiring advanced repair or clinical evaluation.
  • Maintains accurate equipment service, testing, repair, and maintenance records.
  • Coordinates equipment repairs with vendors, manufacturers, Customer Service, Billing, and other internal teams as needed.
  • Manages patient-owned equipment and coordinates equipment repairs across sister locations.
  • Monitors equipment inventory, maintains adequate quantities of ready-to-use equipment, and supports equipment transfers between locations.
  • Maintains organized equipment storage areas and assists with inventory and warehouse activities as needed.
  • Ensures equipment maintenance and testing are completed according to manufacturer guidelines, company procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintains required documentation, including service logs, repair records, and equipment testing records.
  • Maintains working knowledge of company products, equipment, and applicable governmental and industry regulations.
  • Reports equipment hazards, product incidents, and safety concerns in accordance with company policy.
  • Works closely with Respiratory Therapists when equipment concerns require clinical assessment or support outside the scope of the Equipment Technician role.
  • Assists with equipment troubleshooting and provides professional and courteous service to patients, customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment and performs other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’ll BRING
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience with durable medical equipment, respiratory equipment, medical equipment repair, or warehouse operations preferred.
  • Experience with ventilators or other respiratory equipment strongly preferred.
  • Ability to learn and follow manufacturer-specific equipment maintenance and testing procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and ability to accurately document equipment service and maintenance.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, push, and pull medical equipment and supplies.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, if required.
