Job description

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a Main Operating Room Equipment Technician to work from Sunday night to Thursday night. This role involves collaborating with operating room staff to ensure the safe and efficient flow of patients, moving beds and equipment, and assisting with patient transfers as needed.

The technician must have knowledge of specialized operating room equipment to perform setup, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance. They will work closely with Clinical Engineering technicians for preventative maintenance and repairs, reporting to the Director of Facilities and Operations for Perioperative Care Services.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED plus two (2) years of experience.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine checks and calibrations on medical equipment.
  • Address malfunctions in medical devices and coordinate repairs.
  • Manage records for reusable medical equipment.
  • Disassemble, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments following aseptic protocols.
  • Assemble, test, and package surgical instrument sets.
  • Identify equipment issues and collaborate on repairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in decontamination areas.
  • Assist clinical staff with equipment handling and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
