Job summary

BD in USA Utah (Sandy) is hiring for a 12-hour rotating shift-based manufacturing role. The position emphasizes instrument and process control, QA, and safe, compliant production in a clean room environment.

On-site gym access, shift differentials, and a structured growth path support performance and development. Candidates will monitor equipment, maintain quality, perform troubleshooting, and collaborate with mechanics and quality teams to ensure production goals are met while adhering to SOPs

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read & write in English and communicate in verbal English.
  • Able to work in a team and communicate across the department.
  • Punctual and accountable for attendance per policy.
  • Ability to work on semi-routine assignments with deviation recognition.
  • Ability to work independently within approved process documentation.
  • Ability to analyze charts, follow diagrams and perform basic arithmetic.
  • Basic PC skills and Windows usage.

Responsibilities

  • Control, monitor and adjust machine settings for optimal equipment performance and product quality.
  • Inspect in-process parts to ensure quality standards.
  • Identify and remove defective products and components from the production line.
  • Monitor equipment performance and raise issues promptly.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Follow SOPs, SWIs and safety requirements; document accurately.
  • Maintain clean, safe work environment and participate in handoffs and meetings.

Job Description

B Shift: 12 hour rotating shift (5:45 PM -5:50 AM) Scheduled to work 7-days in a 14-day period (2 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2off, 3 on, 2 off - every other weekend is scheduled off)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Control, monitor and adjust machine settings to maintain optimal equipment performance and product quality.
  • Inspect in-process parts to ensure they consistently meet established quality standards and specifications.
  • Identify, segregate and remove defective products, packaging materials and components from the production process.
  • Monitor equipment performance and promptly identify abnormalities, malfunctions, or conditions that may impact production and quality.
  • Escalate equipment, process, safety and quality concerns to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities related to process and product exceptions.
  • Support corrective actions and process improvements by providing accurate information and observations related to equipment and product performance.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Standard Work Instructions (SWI), safety requirements and documentation standards.
  • Maintain accurate and complete production and quality documentation.
  • Communicate relevant equipment, process, and quality concerns effectively during shift handoffs, pit stops and team meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with mechanics, supervisors, quality team, and other team members to resolve equipment and process issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
  • Demonstrate ownership of equipment performance, product quality, and assigned production responsibilities.
  • Participate in equipment changeovers or set‑ups.
  • Continuously improve through the Kaizen Action Sheet (KAS) program.
  • Complies with all local, state, federal and BD Safety and quality regulations, policies, procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KEY DELIVERABLES
  • Safety – Thinks Safe, Acts Safe! Reports any accident or potential accident immediately.
  • Quality – Determines the cause of quality problems and take appropriate action as per quality procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement/Delivery – Actively participates in Continuous Improvement teams and activities, including lean manufacturing, 5S, blitzes, Shift start up, updating PVD boards, etc. Meets or exceeds department KAS completion goals.
  • 5S – maintains equipment and an organized clean area by performing tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping down equipment.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIE/SKILLS:
  • Must be able to read & write in written English and communicate in verbal English.
  • Can effectively work in a team setting and communicate effectively across the department
  • Punctual and accountable for attendance in accordance with company policies to ensure production
  • Ability to work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature with the skill to recognize any deviations from specification
  • Ability to operate independently within the constraints of approved process-related documentation
  • Ability analyze/evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams and perform basic arithmetic
  • Basic proficiency with PCs (Personal Computers) and basic use of a Windows environment
WORK ENVIRONMENT & ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
  • This position is in a clean room or laboratory manufacturing environment and requires physical demands. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • They are required to stand and/or occasionally sit for extended periods of time. Bending, stooping reaching, kneeling, climbing, balancing, crouching, pushing/pulling, repetitive grasping, hearing, twisting, lifting, frequent use of hand to finger, handle, feel, pick or type which can include repetitive motion of the wrists, hands or fingers. As well as lift 20 pounds, occasionally pulling/pushing up to 30 pounds, frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs and carry up to 5 lbs. In certain areas, move bins or pallets weighing approximately 300 to 400 lbs with the use of manual pallet jack. Exposure working near loud moving mechanical equipment, and potential temperature fluctuations, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, cleaning compounds and solvents.
  • Employees must have normal field of vision corrected to 20/40 in each eye and must have hearing sufficient to safely operate material handling equipment in a manufacturing/distribution environment. Must be willing and able to wear required PPE such as, safety glasses, face mask and/or shield, hearing protection, safety shoes, hair and beard net and smock.
