Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full-time Equipment Specialist to work in the Minuteman III (MMIII) Infrastructure Mechanical Section, MMIII Systems Division, Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems Directorate at F.E Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY.
This position (968343) is an NH-1670-03. The salary range for this position is $89,508 - $117,107 based on Value of Position (75), which includes FE Warren AFB (17.06%) locality pay. **Value of Position: If your current salary is within the band, but above the stated Value of Position, your salary will not be reduced if you are selected for the position.

Equipment Specialists in AFNWC solve highly complex problems and take part in a variety of projects to promote national security through nuclear deterrence. The employee will be part of the dynamic specialty engineering team and will be expected to operate at a high-performance pace and develop and maintain the radical teaming-centric culture.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Equipment Specialist within the MMIII Infrastructure Branch’s Mechanical Section as a technical expert for assigned programs providing technical advice and expertise to Air Force Global Strike Command and other outside organizations. Assigned equipment characteristically requires frequent significant technical decisions and extensive coordination to achieve and maintain an optimum support position. The incumbent is expected to act independently.
DUTIES:
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates equipment deficiency and failure reports.
- Reviews equipment reliability and supportability performance against established baselines, specifications, and requirements.
- Reviews data such as reliability & maintainability predictions, failure modes/effects/criticality analysis, material deficiency reports, failure summaries, and maintenance task analysis reports for potential supportability and maintainability issues.
- Ensures Sustainment Key Performance Parameter (KPP) requirement thresholds/objectives, statement of work, and weapon system spec requirements are on track and manages change, as necessary.
- Trains and advises other branch personnel on statutory and regulatory processes, policies and tools and briefs stakeholders on status of area of responsibility to facilitate life cycle management of the Sentinel weapon system.
- Assists in designing, developing, and/or testing new or modified equipment prior to its release for production and/or fielding (e.g., assess and ensure mechanical reliability, accessibility of parts and components for adjustment and repair, frequency and duration of repairs, time required for fault isolation).
- Serves as a liaison between other logisticians and multiple stakeholders to ensure the Design Interface and Sustaining Engineering Integrated Product Support Elements are properly implemented across multiple Integrated Product Teams and Product Divisions.
- Assures the requirement for technical publications for organizational/intermediate/Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Real Property Installed Equipment maintenance and operations are developed. Evaluate related proposals, checking for adequate and necessity for updating existing publications. Ensures the technical accuracy of manuals and other technical publications. Issues Master Change Logs (MCLs) directing maintenance or operation actions, to include those restricting operation of assigned systems.
- Assures high-quality technical assistance is provided in support of assigned equipment for resolving incipient maintenance support problems.
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices of ICBM Real Property Installed Equipment.
- Experience in implementing the 12 Integrated Logistics Elements is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of required security and safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Skill in analyzing and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and technical data; and, identifying and analyzing complex technical problems and developing innovative solutions.
- Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills with demonstrated experience in leading, influencing and collaborating in a diverse team environment that includes external functional and program stakeholders is preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize, and reprioritize work to meet changing deadlines.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field is highly valued.
- Ability to develop and conduct training to ensure proper maintenance of assigned systems/equipment; and communicate well both orally and in writing.
