Job Description
Title: Equipment Repair Technician
Department: Custodial Department
Reports to: Custodial Supervisor
Compensation: ACP 204

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Perform mechanical repairs associated with the maintenance of electrical systems on all types of custodial equipment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Valid Texas Driver’s License, insurable with Judson ISD insurance carrier, and a good driving record
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to read and understand instructions for equipment manuals, and safety procedures
- Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building maintenance
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment
- Ability to work with hands and use small tools skillfully
- Ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in custodial equipment repair experience
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Responsible for all custodial equipment repairs throughout the district
- Pick up and deliver equipment as needed for repairs
- Assist custodial personnel on the proper procedure of any new or repaired equipment
- Assist with equipment operation training for all custodial staff
- Assist in yearly capital purchase process for custodial equipment for the purpose of developing standards within the district.
- Maintain an inventory of parts and equipment needed for the purpose of maintaining all equipment within the district
- Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment within the custodial Department for the purpose of keeping the equipment in good working condition
- Attend custodial training and/or in-service sessions
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
- Follow established safety procedures to perform job duties
- Punctual and dependable
- Perform other duties as assigned, based on department needs
- Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year
- Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills
- Ability to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job

- Office equipment – personal computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
- Communication equipment – radio communication equipment, cellular telephone
- Shop equipment and tools: Voltage meter, small hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, sockets, pliers, crimpers, wire-cutters, etc.) power tools (saw, drill, sander, etc.)
- Truck lift gate and wench.
