A leading company in public works is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to manage operations and maintenance within the Haltom City Public Works Department. The successful candidate will operate heavy machinery, ensure equipment is maintained in safe working condition, and perform various repairs. This role requires a High School Diploma and a valid Class A CDL, along with hands-on experience in equipment operation and maintenance.

Operates assigned equipment for the Haltom City Public Works Department; assists with maintenance activities for area of assignment; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Examples of Duties:

• Operates various types of heavy equipment including but not limited to backhoes, dump trucks, water trucks, loaders, rollers, street sweepers, and forklifts.
• Performs preventative maintenance to assigned equipment and assists in ensuring equipment is maintained in safe working condition.
• Repairs and replaces concrete and backfills curbs.
• Maintains, repairs, installs, and/or cleans water mains, service lines, pumps, valves, valve boxes, sewers, manholes, and fire hydrants.
• Installs and programs water meters; replaces meter boxes and lids; repairs box leaks.
• Assists in cleaning and maintaining departmental facilities as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Typical Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent, and one year equipment operation experience; OR an equivalent combination or education and experience. Depending on area of assignment, other specialized licenses or certifications may be required. Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
