Qualifications

Job description

Are you a skilled front-end loader and other motorized equipment operator? Do you like variety in work assignments using a wide range of equipment? If so, then this is the position for you! Working for the City of West Allis will give you a stable and rewarding career.

The ideal candidate for this position is a high-energy, positive-thinking individual who is comfortable utilizing technology and learning new equipment. Must be adaptable to the changing needs and priorities of the department and the City.

Shift Details

Third Shift: Sunday - Thursday 11pm-7am

Primary Duties

1. Operate various types of equipment including trucks, tandem, large rubber tire end loaders, street sweepers, snow blowers for front-end loaders, Dickey John salt spreading systems, and refuse or recycling packers.
2. Assist in snow removal, salt and sanding operations.
3. Perform routine manual labor related to equipment operation in construction, maintenance, and service activities.
4. Keep work records and compile related reports.
5. Participate in construction, maintenance, and service activities as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of recent experience operating front-end loaders.
• Ability to learn and operate specialized municipal equipment such as street sweepers and snow removal equipment.
• Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License (Class B, C with airbrakes).
• Tanker (N) endorsement to be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• Good driving record per City policy.

Physical Requirements

Must have the physical ability to perform duties including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, sitting, climbing, twisting, stooping, crawling, stretching, squatting, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and entering/exiting vehicles and equipment.

Capable of manual labor for extended periods, with exposure to variable weather conditions, odors, toxic agents, noise, vibrations, electrical currents, vehicular traffic, and dust.
