Job summary

The City of Longview in Longview, TX seeks a full-time Streets Laborer to perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair work and assist with street, water/sewer, park, and facility upkeep. You will operate hand and power tools and help maintain vehicles and equipment.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, at least one year of basic maintenance experience, and a valid Texas driver’s license; CDL Class A or B is required. Work is outdoors in all weather and safety rules must be followed.

Performs basic and semiskilled construction, maintenance and general labor work within scope of authority and training, and in accordance with all City safety regulations and procedures. Operates hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. Inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on vehicles and equipment. Completes required daily logs and reports. Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports safety hazards and equipment problems; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries. Performs tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies. Performs other related duties as assigned or required. When assigned to Sanitation: Operates truck and leads work crew collecting solid waste, refuse, bulky items and recyclable materials; performs manual labor tasks as needed. Screens and checks refuse to remove hazardous and prohibited waste. Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries. Maintains vehicles and equipment according to City standards. Responds to requests for information; provides basic information within scope of authority. Maintains daily work logs and records; performs work according to City policies and procedures.
