Job summary

The City of Longview is seeking a full-time Public Works Operations worker in Longview, TX, to perform skilled and semi-skilled labor, maintenance, and repair across streets, water, sewer, and facilities.

You will lead crews, operate specialized equipment, and ensure safety compliance, reporting to the Public Works division. A CDL and relevant experience are required or will be obtained as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and at least three years operating specialized vehicles and maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of equipment and vehicles to maintain streets, water and sewer systems, parks, and facilities.
• Lead and coordinate work crews; ensure work meets safety, quality, and City standards.
• Train crew in procedures, tool use, and safety; report hazards and incidents.
• Prepare reports and maintain records of work activities and maintenance performed.

Trains work crew in City procedures, techniques and safety standards; trains crew in the use and maintenance of equipment and tools; works with staff to correct performance deficiencies. Collects information, purchases supplies, prepares reports, and maintains records as required. Provides customer service and responds to questions within scope of authority. Operates a variety of equipment and vehicles. Leads the maintenance of vehicles and equipment in accordance with City safety procedures.
