Job summary

Sims Metal is seeking an Equipment Operator in Baltimore, MD to operate frontend loader, 12k forklift, bobcat and skid steer. You will perform pre-shift inspections, follow all safety rules and help maintain equipment.

Responsibilities include loading trucks and barges, piling scrap, end-of-shift cleanup, and keeping work areas in good condition. A GED or high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required; at least 12 months of related experience or training is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Driver's license is required.
• Minimum of 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling and cleaning.
• Completes inspection report prior to using equipment.
• Safely operate machinery under the direction of the shift supervisor or production manager. Load trucks, pile scrap material, load/unload barges and rail cars.
• End of shift clean up and equipment inspection.
• Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality.
• Commit to the overall safety of the work environment.
• Sweeps and shovels residual waste from process.
• Other duties may be assigned.
