Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) is hiring an entry-level Transportation Worker 1 Equipment Operator to work in Greenbrier County. You will operate light trucks and a variety of equipment, perform routine maintenance, and assist during SRIC operations under supervision.

Completion of an apprenticeship and CDL within six months is required for advancement. Travel may be required; a valid license is essential for this role. Tier 1 pay starts at $16.35 per hour.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• No prior experience is required.
• CDL will be required within six months of employment.
• Travel may be required; therefore, a valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate a light truck or vehicle.
• Operate a forklift to load/unload trucks.
• May operate endloader, skid steer, rollers, utility tractor, and brush chipper.
• Control brush/vegetation with hand tools and equipment.
• Plow snow with a light truck.
• Perform minor fleet maintenance.
• Transport fuel to equipment.
• Answer calls during SRIC.
• Flags traffic at construction sites.
