Position Summary: Operate one or several types of power construction equipment to excavate, move, and/or grade material.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way, including loading, hauling, and dumping on various surfaces.
• Load gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Construct ditches for culverts, water, and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain all fluid levels and lubrication of equipment.
• Instruct and train employees in safe operation and job techniques.
• Inspect equipment and structures to identify errors, problems, or defects.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and safety procedures for construction equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.

Requirements:

• Ability to move about a construction site constantly, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
• Climb ladders, scaffolds, and operate mechanical platforms or lifts.
• Work in confined, cluttered, and uneven environments, and in noisy, dusty conditions.
• Lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Possess required tools and adhere to safety and project rules.
• Pass drug, alcohol, medical, and background checks.
