Job summary

The City of Houston's Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an Equipment Worker (Medium) to join its Facilities Management and Development team at 6200 Wheeler St., Houston, TX. The role involves operating dump trucks, backhoes, box blades, small graders, Bobcats, sweepers and rubber-tire loaders; performing construction projects; and transporting refuse with a 12-yard dump truck.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow basic written/oral instructions.
• Six (6) months of experience operating plant or automotive equipment.
• Must have a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in accordance with City of Houston policy (AP 2-2).

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of equipment including dump trucks, backhoes, box blades, small graders, Bobcats, sweepers and rubber-tire loaders.
• Perform construction projects and transport refuse using a 12-yard dump truck.
• Clean, service and repair equipment; maintain a safe and clean work site.
• Assist in preparing reports/records and perform other duties as assigned.
