Job summary

Sims Metal (Sims) is seeking an Equipment Operator to safely operate loaders, forklifts, bobcats and related machinery in our Monessen facility. You will perform pre-shift and end-of-shift inspections, grease and maintain equipment, and help keep work areas clean and compliant with safety rules.

Responsibilities include loading trucks and barges, handling scrap material, and working under the direction of the shift supervisor or production manager.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Driver's license is required.
• Minimum of 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling and cleaning
• Completes inspection report prior to using equipment
• Safely operate machinery under the direction of the shift supervisor or production manager. Load trucks, pile scrap material, load/unload barges and rail cars
• End of shift clean up and equipment inspection
• Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality
• Commit to the overall safety of the work environment
• Sweeps and shovels residual waste from process
• Other duties may be assigned
