Job summary

US Aggregates is seeking an Equipment Operator/Laborer to support production and quality within the Operations function. You will operate front-end loaders, haul trucks, and skid steers to keep the plant in production.

You will fuel, service, perform pre-/post-shift checks, and document activities while following safety rules and PPE requirements. This is a full-time role requiring good teamwork and communication plus willingness to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

  • Regular attendance and dependable performance required.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate in English; basic math understood.
  • Must follow safety rules and operate PPE properly.
  • Experience with heavy equipment and maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment (front-end loaders, haul trucks, skid steer, etc.) to keep plant in production.
  • Fuel, oil, grease, and perform basic maintenance on equipment; follow safety manuals.
  • Conduct pre-shift and end-shift checks; complete required paperwork and logs.
  • Follow company procedures, safety rules, and asset transfer processes; participate in trainings.
  • Maintain clean facilities and equipment; work with team to improve safety and efficiency.

As an Equipment Operator/Laborer, you will have responsibility for maintaining production, maintenance, quality, and safety within the Aggregates’ Operations function, including but not limited to, operating heavy equipment, such as Front-End Loaders, Haul Trucks, Skid Steers, etc.

Essential Functions

  • Operate, service, and maintain various heavy equipment including front-end loaders, off road dump trucks, skid steer, man-lift, fuel truck and water truck in order to keep plant clean and in production

  • Responsible for fueling, oiling, greasing equipment as well as understanding the equipment’s safety manual

  • Perform pre-shift and end of shift checks and maintenance on equipment

  • Report orally and in writing to as required and maintain accurate records (i.e. activity reports, inventory reports, maintenance logs, etc.) as directed

  • Participate in general training, job specific training and hazardous materials training as required; successfully complete written examinations as required

  • Understand and follow all policies, procedures, and safety rules as applicable to facility, job function and equipment, including rules governing safety around railroad tracks and equipment

  • Keep facilities and equipment clean and maintained

  • Recommend changes to the operation which may produce safer work processes, savings and efficiencies

  • Abiding by yard rules, safety regulations and PPE requirements

  • Accurately completing all required paperwork

  • Abide by terminals processes and procedures relating to product transfers, quality assurance, safety, and operations

  • Complete required training and certifications necessary to perform duties safely and effectively

  • Other duties as assigned

Education Qualifications

  • Required High School or Equivalent

Skills and Abilities

  • Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance
  • Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule
  • Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math
  • Working knowledge of US Aggregates Safety and Operating principles
  • Complete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping, and daily inventory
  • Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management, or customer
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assigned
  • Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Must possess and exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently to get things done
  • Strong welding, torching, and maintenance skills preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Must have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven ground
  • Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairways and incline catwalks
  • Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at waist or knees
  • Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, shovel or carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work outside majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather
