Job summary

US Aggregates in Indiana is seeking an Equipment Operator/Laborer to maintain production, safety, and quality in the Operations function. You will operate front-end loaders, haul trucks, skid steers, and related equipment, perform routine service, and complete required paperwork.

Candidates must read and follow safety rules, participate in trainings, and work flexible shifts including days, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work with a team and follow directions accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, service, and maintain heavy equipment (loaders, dump trucks, skid steers).
  • Perform pre-shift and post-shift checks and maintenance on equipment.
  • Complete required paperwork and maintain records (activity, inventory, logs).
  • Follow safety rules, participate in trainings, and wear PPE as required.
  • Assist with transfers, quality, and safety processes; adapt to changing duties.

As an Equipment Operator/Laborer, you will have responsibility for maintaining production, maintenance, quality, and safety within the Aggregates' Operations function, including but not limited to, operating heavy equipment, such as Front-End Loaders, Haul Trucks, Skid Steers, etc.

Essential Functions

Operate, service, and maintain various heavy equipment including front-end loaders, off road dump trucks, skid steer, man-lift, fuel truck and water truck in order to keep plant clean and in production. Responsible for fueling, oiling, greasing equipment as well as understanding the equipment's safety manual. Perform pre-shift and end of shift checks and maintenance on equipment. Report orally and in writing to as required and maintain accurate records (i.e. activity reports, inventory reports, maintenance logs, etc.) as directed. Participate in general training, job specific training and hazardous materials training as required; successfully complete written examinations as required. Understand and follow all policies, procedures, and safety rules as applicable to facility, job function and equipment, including rules governing safety around railroad tracks and equipment. Keep facilities and equipment clean and maintained. Recommend changes to the operation which may produce safer work processes, savings and efficiencies. Abiding by yard rules, safety regulations and PPE requirements. Accurately completing all required paperwork. Abide by terminals processes and procedures relating to product transfers, quality assurance, safety, and operations. Complete required training and certifications necessary to perform duties safely and effectively. Other duties as assigned. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications Required

High School or Equivalent

Skills and Abilities

Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance. Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule. Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math. Working knowledge of US Aggregates Safety and Operating principles. Complete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping, and daily inventory. Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management, or customer. Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assigned. Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends. Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Must possess and exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently to get things done. Strong welding, torching, and maintenance skills preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Must have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven ground. Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairways and incline catwalks. Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at waist or knees. Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, shovel or carry up to 50lbs. Ability to work outside majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.
