Job summary

City of Fargo is seeking an Equipment Operator II to operate a range of material moving equipment for water mains, service lines, and hydrants. You will work under supervision, often around excavations, and collaborate with crews to ensure safe, efficient operations in street and utility maintenance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, three years of related experience, and a valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement or the ability to obtain within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and three years of related experience.
• Class B commercial driver’s license with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Ability to read and write logs and records in English.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment to maintain streets, sewers, and related facilities.
• Follow drawings and survey stakes when excavating and trenching.
• Monitor equipment, diagnose issues, and report repairs.
• Communicate courteously with the public and colleagues.
• Maintain safety practices and follow department rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
