Job summary

A local government authority is seeking an EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II to operate equipment for the maintenance and construction of roads and city projects. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and relevant experience. This role involves heavy equipment operation, traffic control, and routine equipment maintenance under varying physical demands and environmental conditions.

Qualifications

• One year of related work experience or five years of experience.
• Current and valid Class C driver license required upon hire.
• Class A CDL with tanker endorsement needed within eight months of hire.
• CDL Class A with tanker endorsement within eight months of hire.
• Pre-placement physical examination & DOT drug test required.

Responsibilities

• Operate truck and light equipment for road maintenance.
• Control traffic flow at worksite.
• Perform routine maintenance and report repairs.
• Controls traffic flow at work site.
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment or trucks and reports needed repairs.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Operates and/or drives truck or light equipment
• Performs road maintenance or construction related duties while operating equipment
• May transport equipment and supplies
• Controls traffic flow at work site
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment or trucks and reports needed repairs
• Performs all other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma or GED + one full-time year worth of related work experience. OR Five full-time years' worth of related work experience.
• A current and valid Class C driver license is required upon hire.
• Class A CDL with tanker endorsement is required within eight months of hire.
• Must take and pass a pre-placement physical examination & DOT drug test.
• Must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Regularly required to stoop, bend, push and pull. May have to lift heavy boxes or objects up to 100 pounds. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals. Exposure to extreme heat and cold.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
