Job summary

York County is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to support Grounds Maintenance and Construction. You will operate tractors, dump trucks, backhoes and related machinery outdoors to maintain roads, ditches and properties.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 1–2 years of experience or equivalent training, a Class A CDL with clean record, and pesticide certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months). Safety shoes and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1–2 years operating heavy equipment or equivalent training.
• Must obtain State Category 60 pesticide certification within 6 months or already certified.
• Must have CDL Class A with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy and medium equipment including tractors, loaders, excavators, and bulldozers to perform maintenance tasks.
• Dig trenches, spread dirt/gravel, haul debris, and cut grass as required.
• Perform minor preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; comply with safety procedures.
