Job description

Job Title: Equipment Operator

Full performance level in the equipment operation occupation requiring considerable knowledge of multi-unit vehicles and waste disposal equipment. Under direction, operates vehicles such as solid waste tractor/tipper-trailer.

Responsibilities include:

1. Driving highway tractor with tipper-trailer from transfer station to landfill or other destination.
2. Transporting with tractor/dump-trailer.
3. Performing minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
4. Checking and servicing equipment, including preventative maintenance.
5. Greasing and oils machinery.
6. Completing check-off lists for equipment condition and maintenance records.

May serve as a backup to Equipment Operator I if needed and qualified.

Minimum qualifications: Equivalent to a high school diploma and two (2) years of equipment operation experience as described above. Valid State of Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements. Must pass Department of Transportation physical exam.
