Job summary

Caltrans in California is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker to support a range of roadway upkeep tasks. Working under a Maintenance Supervisor, you will operate Category 1 and 2 equipment and perform duties that keep highways safe and reliable.

This is a permanent, intermittent role with hours up to 1,500 per year, requiring overtime, nights, and weekend work during storms and emergencies. Location: Mineral Yard, Mineral, CA.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate heavy equipment
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Responsibilities

• Operate Category 1 and 2 highway maintenance equipment under supervision
• Perform paving, shoulder grading, mowing, ditch cleaning, patching and related maintenance tasks
• Repair or replace signs, guardrails, culverts and perform traffic control and litter pickup
• May work overtime, nights and weekends during storms or emergencies and with other crews
