Colorado State University seeks a dedicated Waste Collection Operator to contribute to a clean campus environment. This role involves operating various trucks for recycling collection, maintenance of vehicles, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The Integrated Solid Waste Section ( ISW ) provides a clean and healthy campus environment in which to study, work, and live. The section removes solid waste from local campuses according to the ISW plan thus maximizing the reuse of campus waste through recycling and composting, with landfilling as a last resort. The position works Tuesday through Saturday, 5 am to 1:30 pm, with overtime occasionally required.
Position Summary
This position operates a 22,420 GVW rear load to collect cardboard for recycling Tuesday through Friday. This position operates a 64,000 GVW trash truck and a 41,360 GVW recycle truck on Saturday and, as needed, to assist.

Duty/Responsibility
Collect recyclable materials throughout the campuses and deliver to recycle center. In performing this function, the employee operates and performs operator maintenance and daily pre-operation safety inspections on a 41,360 GVW side load recycle truck and 22,420 GVW rear load recycle truck, a 64,000 GVW trash truck.

Maintain recycle bins at recycle sites as needed. Duties include cleaning lids, ground around bins, and making arrangements for the bins to be thoroughly washed during school breaks and when needed to reduce odors and improve appearance. Snow removal around bins and enclosures as necessary.
