Equipment Operator - Stormwater Maintenance Team

The Road, Bridge, and Stormwater Maintenance Division is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our Stormwater Maintenance Team. The role involves driving trucks, tractors, and other vehicles to support maintenance activities within the county’s roadside swales.

1. Driving and Operating Vehicles: Operate trucks, tractors, dump trucks, brush trucks, and other specialized vehicles to transport materials, perform maintenance, and construction projects. Ensure safety by maneuvering carefully around traffic, obstacles, and pedestrians, and obey all traffic laws and safety guidelines.
2. Equipment Operation: Use tractors, mowing equipment, water and spray trucks, asphalt distributors, loaders, skid steers, asphalt rollers, and patching trucks to perform maintenance tasks, including mowing rights-of-way, watering, applying asphalt, and repairing streets.
3. Pre-Use Inspection and Maintenance: Inspect equipment daily, perform light maintenance such as oil changes and refueling, and ensure vehicles are clean and secure after use.
4. Additional Responsibilities: Assist with general labor tasks, maintain assigned areas, operate hand and motorized tools, record data using electronic devices, and perform minor repairs on equipment.
5. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred; six months of related experience; valid Florida Driver’s License; Class B Commercial Driver’s License; within six months, obtain a Class A CDL with Air Brake and Tanker Endorsements.

Additional Information: Fingerprinting required. Salary may be above minimum based on qualifications. Essential employees may be required to work during emergencies. Other duties as assigned.
