Job Summary
The Road, Bridge, and Stormwater Maintenance Division seeks an Equipment Operator to join our Stormwater Maintenance Team. The position involves operating trucks, tractors, and other vehicles to support maintenance activities within the county’s roadside swales.
Essential Functions
- Drive trucks, tractors, and other vehicles to support maintenance and construction projects, navigating safely around traffic, obstacles, and crew members, while following all safety and traffic laws.
- Operate dump trucks and brush trucks for transporting materials, ensuring proper loading, securing loads, and operating dumping mechanisms accurately.
- Operate tractors and mowing equipment to maintain rights-of-way and county property, including debris removal and equipment adjustments for desired operation.
- Transport and distribute liquids using specialized trucks, including water, fuel, and asphalt, adjusting spray mechanisms as needed.
- Use loaders, bobcats, and skid steers for material handling and land clearing tasks.
- Operate asphalt rollers and patching trucks for street repairs, including asphalt application and manual sealing.
- Inspect and prepare equipment daily, perform light maintenance, and ensure vehicles are clean and secure after use.
Additional Functions
- Assist in maintenance and construction tasks, including debris removal, manual material handling, and equipment operation.
- Maintain assigned areas and vehicles, and support team members as needed.
- Use electronic devices to record and report work activities.
- Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Six (6) months of related experience.
- Fingerprinting required.
Licenses/Certificates
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with applicable endorsements.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License.
- Within six months of hire, obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL with Air Brake and Tanker Endorsements.
