Job Title: Equipment Operator

The Road, Bridge, and Stormwater Maintenance Division is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our road maintenance team. The position involves operating trucks, tractors, and other vehicles to support maintenance activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Driving and Operating Vehicles: Drive trucks, tractors, and other vehicles to support maintenance and construction projects. Maneuver around traffic, obstacles, and ensure safety by obeying traffic laws and monitoring the environment.
2. Transporting Materials: Operate dump trucks, brush trucks, and other specialized vehicles to transport materials, secure loads, and operate dumping mechanisms effectively.
3. Equipment Operation: Use tractors, mowing equipment, water trucks, asphalt distributors, and loaders for various maintenance tasks, including mowing rights-of-way, watering, street repair, and debris removal.
4. Street and Pavement Maintenance: Utilize asphalt patching trucks, operate asphalt rollers, and manually spread asphalt to repair and maintain streets.
5. Equipment Inspection and Maintenance: Inspect, prepare, and perform light maintenance on equipment and vehicles, including refueling and cleaning.
6. Additional Tasks: Assist in general labor, maintain assigned areas, record data using electronic devices, and perform minor repairs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months of related experience.
• Fingerprinting required.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid Florida Driver’s License with applicable endorsements.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License.
• Within six months of hire, obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL with Air Brake and Tanker Endorsement.
