Equipment Operator - Road, Bridge, and Stormwater Maintenance Division

The Road, Bridge, and Stormwater Maintenance Division is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our road maintenance team. The position involves operating trucks, tractors, and other vehicles to support maintenance activities.

  1. Vehicle Operation: Drives trucks, tractors, and other vehicles to support maintenance and construction projects, ensuring safety and compliance with traffic laws.
  2. Material Transport: Operates dump trucks and brush trucks to transport materials, securing loads and operating dumping mechanisms accurately.
  3. Mowing and Land Maintenance: Operates tractors and mowing equipment to maintain rights-of-way and County property, removing obstacles and adjusting equipment as needed.
  4. Water and Liquid Distribution: Uses specialized trucks to distribute water, fuel, and other liquids, including operating spray and asphalt distribution mechanisms.
  5. Heavy Equipment Operation: Operates loaders, skidsteers, asphalt rollers, and patching trucks for various construction and repair tasks.
  6. Equipment Maintenance and Inspection: Prepares and maintains equipment, performing light maintenance and ensuring safety standards.
  7. Additional Tasks: Assists with general labor, maintains assigned areas, cleans equipment, and records data using digital devices.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred; at least 6 months of related experience; valid Florida Driver’s License; Class B CDL required, with Class A CDL with endorsements to be obtained within six months of hire; fingerprinting required.

Additional Information: Must perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and support team efforts. Salary may be above the minimum based on qualifications.
