You'll have a consistent work schedule (40hrs/wk), supportive supervisors, and not be stuck in an office all day!

Work in the winter months involves snow and ice removal. Spring/summer months involve work with asphalt.

**This is a full-time temporary position. A regular schedule of 40 hours per week is expected. If a regular position opens up, we encourage you to apply for it if it interests you! We promote from within whenever possible.**

Pay Ranges

• Equipment Operator I: $22.30 - $29.44/hr
• Equipment Operator II: $26.42 - $34.87/hr
• Equipment Operator III: $29.24 - $38.60/hr

Positions involve operating light or heavy equipment and performing semi-skilled to skilled work in street maintenance and construction. Positions are usually filled by advancement from lower levels or, externally, require related experience. All roles require excellent customer service skills and positive interaction with the public.

Job Responsibilities

Operate heavy machinery, perform street and drainage maintenance, asphalt work, traffic control, and interpret maps and blueprints. Assist in building and removing concrete and wood forms, and perform other related duties.

Education/Experience

• Equipment Operator I: High school diploma or GED; familiarity with heavy machinery preferred. Equivalent combinations considered.
• Equipment Operator II: Proficiency with heavy machinery in construction, maintenance, or waste collection. Equivalent experience considered.

Licensing/Certification

• Equipment Operator I: Valid Colorado Driver's License; must obtain a Class B CDL within 30 days.
• Equipment Operator II: Valid Colorado Class A CDL with a safe driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of city policies, safety laws, and equipment operation. Skills include safe operation, traffic management, blueprint reading, and effective communication. Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and establish positive relationships.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Position involves physical activities such as lifting over 50 pounds, working in various weather conditions, and exposure to chemicals and noise. Climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and operating noisy equipment are also required.

Examinations may include screening tests, interviews, or other assessments. Background checks, drug screens, physical, and psychological exams are required as conditions of employment.
