Job Description

General Functions: Performs skilled and semi-skilled work operating medium to heavy sized automotive, construction or maintenance equipment.

Distinguishing Characteristics of Work: This is skilled and semi-skilled work operating moderately complex vehicles or construction equipment. Responsibilities include safe operation, routine safety checks, and maintenance. Work is assigned and reviewed by a supervisor, with performance evaluated based on safety, efficiency, and results.

Representative Duties/Assignments:

• Equipment Operator I: Operates light trucks, riding or power mowers, small tractors, performs maintenance on ponds and drainage systems, participates in general labor duties.
• Equipment Operator II: Operates larger equipment including tractor mowers, flatbed trucks, pumps, performs maintenance, and participates in general labor duties.
• Equipment Operator III: Operates complex equipment such as backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, bulldozers, performs grading, and routine safety inspections.

Minimum Qualifications:

• EO I: 6 months experience or approved training, ability to understand instructions.
• EO II: 2 years experience or training plus 1 year experience, ability to understand instructions.
• EO III: 3 years experience in operation and maintenance of medium to heavy equipment, ability to understand instructions.

Salary: EO I $15.60-$20.58, EO II $16.00-$21.11, EO III $17.47-$23.05. FLSA: Non-Exempt. Salary based on education and experience.
