Job Overview

DIS-TRAN Steel, located in Pineville, LA, is looking for experienced Equipment Operators to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in an industrial manufacturing facility.
• Control attachments using handwheels and pedals.
• Start engines, move throttles, switches, or levers to operate machines.
• Coordinate machine actions with team members, positioning or moving loads in response to signals.
• Load and move equipment or other materials using a forklift or related equipment.
• Inspect equipment before use.
• Perform required operator maintenance on the forklift.
• Check fuel supplies at sites to ensure adequate availability.
• Locate material using project numbers and piecemarks.
• Monitor operations to ensure health and safety standards are met.
• Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as other equipment, workers, or falling objects.
• Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a safe workplace.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a forklift in an industrial manufacturing facility is required.
• Working knowledge of material handling, banding, palletizing, and loading material onto trucks is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret typed reports and schedules is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Certifications or prior experience using moving machinery such as forklifts is preferred.
• Ability to perform basic operator maintenance on forklifts is required.
• Must complete on-site training and demonstrate safe operation of machinery.
• Clear Motor Vehicle Report.
