We are looking for Equipment Operator I!The purpose of this job is to operate heavy equipment and perform manual work functions associated with the construction, repair, and maintenance of County road systems.
Responsibilities- Operate a variety of light to moderately heavy equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, skid steers, loaders, rollers, or similar equipment.
- Inspect equipment daily; perform basic preventative maintenance including checking fluid levels, lubricating components, and reporting issues to maintenance staff.
- Perform manual labor such as shoveling, raking, lifting materials, and placing traffic control devices when not operating equipment.
- Assist in the construction, repair, and maintenance of roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and other public infrastructure.
- Follow all safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and maintain awareness of surroundings to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions and environments, including potential exposure to dust, noise, and traffic.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment operated.
Qualifications- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
- Six (6) months of experience in equipment operation and road maintenance, or a related field.
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
