Forsyth County is hiring a Water Equipment Operator responsible for operating and maintaining water and wastewater utilities. This entry-level position involves various duties including equipment operation, utility maintenance, and customer service. Ideal candidates will possess a high school diploma and a valid Georgia driver’s license, with opportunities for promotion based on experience and certifications.
The purpose of this classification is to operate equipment and perform work associated with installation, repair, and maintenance of water/wastewater utilities. Under direct supervision, this position performs the full range of Water Service and Wastewater duties.
This is the entry level grade in the Water Equipment Operator series, however, depending on prior experience/training and certifications, the department reserves the right to hire candidates and promote accordingly.
The Forsyth County Water & Sewer Department has approved the following promotional track ladder effective March 1, 2023:
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED. Experience involving plumbing or water utility maintenance is desirable. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license and may require a valid Department of Transportation Flagging certification. Certifications such as Georgia Water Distribution System Operator or Wastewater Collection System Operator are required at higher levels.
