Job summary

Savage in El Dorado, KS is seeking a skilled Industrial Operator to operate and maintain the Petroleum Coke Handling System and related equipment on a rotating 12-hour schedule (days and nights). You will perform daily inspections, handle conveyors, crushers, and heavy machinery, complete paperwork, and support maintenance while adhering to safety policies.

A minimum of 1 year refinery/industrial experience is required; CDL Class B preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year of refinery, plant, or industrial experience.
• Read, write, and understand English; follow instructions.
• Cooperates and works well in either one-on-one or group situations.

Responsibilities

• Operate/maintain Petroleum Coke Handling System and conveyor system.
• Operate heavy equipment including front-end loaders and dump trucks.
• Complete and maintain required daily paperwork; assist maintenance personnel.
• Participate in safety program and attend safety meetings; ensure safe behaviors.

The Basics

• Location: El Dorado, KS
• Days/Hours: 12 hour shifts 6AM to 6PM – 1 month days & 1 month nights
• Equipment Used: Frontend Loader, 980 excavator, skid steer, material handling systems, conveyor systems.

What You Will Be Doing

• Operate/maintain Petroleum Coke Handling System that consists of working with a PLC-controlled conveyor system that includes daily operation of the conveyor/crusher system, daily inspection, clean-up after use and (using 150 psi water system), maintenance, minor troubleshooting capability – mechanical aptitude a must
• Operate/maintain heavy equipment including frontend loaders, skid steers, and dump trucks, water truck, large excavators with (clamshell bucket), and other mobile equipment
• Complete and maintain required daily paperwork
• Assist Maintenance personnel, as needed
• Occasionally work in areas outside of your normal duties, when instructed by Supervision
• Take an active role in our safety program including attendance to all safety meetings and ensuring safe behaviors of self and subordinates

Requirements Of a Successful Operator

• 1 year of refinery, plant, or industrial experience
• Class B CDL preferred
• Read, write, and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructions
• Environmental & Safety Awareness
• Cooperates and works well with others in either one-on-one or group situations
• Contributes actively to team objectives, takes on responsibilities, and is responsible for actions

Here are some of the physical requirements of this role:

• Work a rotating (days/nights)12-hour shift to include weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary
• Able to work outdoors in all-weather conditions in addition to walking, and standing on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of time
• Handle large tools, climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend ladders, and should not have a fear of height
