Job summary

Cable Services Company Inc. is seeking a skilled equipment operator to support underground utility placement projects in Lancaster, PA. You will load/unload equipment, inspect and operate machinery, locate utilities, and assist with bore paths on active construction sites.

The role requires at least one year of directional bore experience, Class A CDL, and ability to travel as needed. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and pass pre-employment screenings, including a DOT physical.

Qualifications

• One year of experience operating a directional bore drill.
• Rock boring experience.
• One year of Hydraulic Excavators, Skid Loader, and Dozer experience.
• Class A CDL.
• Willingness to travel for projects.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds occasionally.
• Pre-employment drug test and criminal background screen.
• Complete and pass a DOT Physical.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment securely.
• Transport tools, materials, and equipment safely.
• Inspect equipment daily before use.
• Operate equipment with crew to assist in placing underground utilities.
• Locate existing underground utilities and verify them per blueprints.
• Identify utilities and bore path in construction area.
• Connect/stub-up conduit and wire as required.

• Adhere to safety policies and work safely.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment in a manner that is secure and damage-free
• Transport associated tools, materials, and/or equipment safely
• Complete a daily inspection of equipment prior to commencing work
• In conjunction with the crew, operate the equipment to assist in placing underground utilities
• Operate equipment in accordance with company and industry standards
• Responsible for locating existing underground utilities and verifying them according to blueprints
• Identify utilities in the construction area and bore path
• Connect/stub-up conduit and wire, as required
• Dig pits, trenches, or potholes as required, including windows when crossing utilities
• Restore and/or landscape disturbed areas of the jobsite
• Accurately complete all required company documentation for each assignment (i.e., timesheet, vehicle log, expense report)
• Adhere to all established company safety policies and perform work in a safe manner
• Perform other duties as assigned to help the team complete a project

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret engineering/construction prints, plans, and specifications
• Knowledge of utility depths and placements
• Possess general knowledge of construction practices
• Ability to work in various environments/settings with moderate to loud noise levels
• Ability to work in trenches, excavations, and manholes
• Must have attention to detail and be thorough in completing work tasks
• Ability to work efficiently, independently, and collaboratively within a team environment
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to move materials/equipment weighing up to 80 pounds
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Able to work 5-7 days a week, 10+ hours a day when necessary
• Willing to work outside in varying weather conditions

Preferred Education and Experience

• One year of experience operating a directional bore drill
• Previous rock boring experience
• One year of Hydraulic Excavators, Skid Loader, and Dozer experience
• Class A CDL

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Must be willing and able to travel out of town with occasional overnight stays to assigned projects
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds on an occasional basis
• Pass pre-employment drug test and criminal background screen
• Complete and pass a DOT Physical

Working Conditions

The employee will be exposed to varying weather conditions as they will be driving in all types of conditions.
