Job summary
OmniSource, a metals recycler, seeks a motivated equipment operator to safely operate a forklift, move scrap, load trailers, and support shipping. You will inspect equipment, perform basic preventative maintenance, and keep a clean, organized work area while following safety standards.
The ideal candidate can work all three shifts in a 24/7 operation, has basic computer skills, and knowledge of scrap metals.
Qualifications
- Must obtain OmniSource forklift license.
- Excellent customer service skills for rapport and professional relationships.
- Ability to work any of the 3 shifts in a 24/7 scheduled environment.
- Must have or obtain a smart phone for company email.
- Ability to perform basic Preventative Maintenance tasks.
- Equipment troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to perform hands-on tasks.
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions; climb stairs.
- Housekeeping duties (shoveling, sweeping).
- Scrap material identification for specific locations.
- Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
- High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklift to move scrap into roll-offs, trailers or compactors.
- Load trailers to specified weights and swap full trailers from bays.
- Inspect equipment prior to operation, fuel and lubricate daily.
- Complete shipping documents.
- Complete daily housekeeping and sorting as directed.
- All other duties as requested by Lead and Manager.
