DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Equipment Operator B, you will perform technical construction and skilled maintenance work, including constructing, modifying, and rebuilding roads, trails, and target range layouts. Your duties will include demolishing structurally deficient buildings, underground utility work, hydro-excavating for utility locating, maintenance and construction on the airfield, drainage improvements and installations, and biosolid spreading. You will perform a variety of labor duties using hand and power tools, and operate specialized equipment used for construction and maintenance, including vehicles with a gross weight of 32,001 pounds or more.

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Telework: Not available for this position
  • Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as Equipment Operator A (or equivalent federal job title), or
  • Two years of experience operating heavy construction and maintenance equipment with a gross weight of 32,001 pounds or more, or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirements
  • Possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license
Additional Requirements
  • Conditional offer contingent on passing NCIC screening
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) permit at hire, with agency-sponsored classes to obtain a Class A CDL within 6 months
  • Obtain a Tanker Endorsement (N) within one year
  • Obtain Bio-Solid Application Certification within one year
  • Ability to perform essential job functions
Preferred Qualifications (not required)
  • Class A or B CDL with no restrictions
  • Experience operating refuse/recycling trucks, wheeled/tract front-end loaders, heavy trucks/tractor trailers, snow removal, or large tractor mowing

  • Criminal history reports and drug screening required upon conditional employment
