Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking an Equipment Operator to operate multiple power construction machines to excavate, lift, move and grade earth while maintaining safety and quality on site.

The role requires attention to OSHA standards and the ability to read survey stakes and balance loads. Applicants should have at least 3 years of field experience; a CDL Class A or B may be required, and a physical/exam may be needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field.
• May require a CDL, Class A or B.
• May require an annual physical examination.
• May pass certification prior to operating some equipment.
• Truck operators may be required to have a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
• Utilize basic math to calculate load weights and balance points.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand, and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment, and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate several types of power construction equipment to excavate, lift, move, and grade earth.
• Move hand levers, adjust hand wheels and depress pedals to drive machines and control attachments.
• Inspect equipment daily to ensure safe operation before use.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
