Job summary

Nelson Global Products Inc. is seeking a Press Operator to produce precision metal components in a fast-paced production setting. You will read blueprints, set up and run heavy equipment, and inspect parts for quality and accuracy.

The role emphasizes safety, paperwork accuracy, and timely delivery of finished parts to customers. You should have mechanical aptitude and prior manufacturing experience. The position involves lifting, standing long shifts, and contributing to process improvements

Qualifications

  • Experience reading blueprints and setup instructions is preferred.
  • Experience with measuring tools and shop math is desirable.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand tools are important.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, program, set-up, and troubleshoot machine(s) and department equipment.
  • Read blueprints and work orders to determine specifications.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble components per design requirements.
  • Inspect parts for quality and conformance to specs.
  • Complete paperwork and package parts for transport to customers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe area.
  • Collaborate with leads to optimize the fabrication process.
  • Track materials and report shortages.

POSITION OVERVIEW

THE Press Operator is responsible for producing precision metal components for larger part orders using industrial machinery and fabrication equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with metals, interpreting technical drawings, and operating heavy-duty tools in a fast-paced production environment.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Operate, program, set-up, and troubleshoot machine(s) and department equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine specifications.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble components according to design requirements.
  • Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications.
  • Complete accurate paperwork per workstation in a timely manner.
  • Pack completed parts timely and accurately for transport to the customer.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and ensure a clean and safe work area.
  • Collaborate with department leads to optimize fabrication process.
  • Track materials and report inventory usage or shortages.
  • Apply all safety, quality, and other plant processes and procedures to the products.
  • Keep work area safe and clean (5S- Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
  • Responsible for quality workmanship that meets and or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned and directed by supervisor/lead
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

In terms of a normal workday: Continuously (up to 100%), Frequently (up to 66%), Occasionally (up to 33%),

  • Continuously standing or walking for 10-hour shift.
  • Frequently bend, twist, stoop to remove materials and lift to work area.
  • Frequently load parts into work area and complete baskets without damaging the part.
  • Frequently push/pull
  • Frequently lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally squat or kneel.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to read blueprints and setup instructions
  • Proficiency in the use of appropriate measuring instruments (tape measure, dial calipers, pi tape)
  • Proficiency in shop math (fractions, decimals, metric)
