Responsibilities include the safe and efficient operation of trucks and other automotive equipment, performing assignments according to established routines. Operation of vehicles requires an approved Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or A as required.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe practices in all duties.
• Drive dump trucks for construction, water, sewer projects, and other public works.
• Operate truck-mounted snowplows, trailers, and other equipment.
• Perform manual labor tasks such as loading/unloading trucks, digging, tree trimming, and brush cutting.
• Operate loaders, tractors, jackhammers, and other power tools.

Additional duties

Operate and maintain specialized vehicles like Vactor trucks for system maintenance and repair, including hydro-excavation and wastewater system cleaning.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Prior CDL experience preferred; specific licenses vary by department.
• Knowledge of safe public works practices, proficiency with hand tools, and ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.

Environmental & Safety Conditions

• Work may be indoors or outdoors, exposed to weather, noise, pollution, and waste.
• Use of PPE such as hardhats, gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed shoes required.

Physical Requirements

• Heavy manual lifting, standing, bending, walking, climbing, and working long hours including overtime and emergency response availability.
