Job summary

B&S Site Development in Virginia is seeking a Senior Superintendent to lead field operations on large civil projects. You will oversee multi-site construction, manage safety, scheduling, subcontractors, and ensure work aligns with design, budget, and timeline.

The role requires advanced knowledge of heavy civil construction and a proactive, solutions‑oriented leadership style. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in site development, 3+ years supervising, strong plan-reading skills, and proven ability

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in site development or heavy civil construction.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience as a Superintendent or similar leadership role.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting civil plans and construction documents.
• Strong understanding of grading, utility installation, stormwater management, and paving.
• Knowledge of construction safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
• Ability to lead and motivate field personnel effectively.
• Excellent organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily site operations and ensure project milestones are met.
• Coordinate and schedule crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials.
• Review and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Ensure work is performed according to design, budget, schedule, and quality standards.

• Communicate daily with project managers regarding progress, issues, and solutions.
• Lead and mentor foremen and field crews to promote productivity and accountability.
• Manage inspections, testing, and documentation required by municipalities or clients.
• Identify potential risks or delays and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records including daily reports, timecards, and material logs.

Superintendents are responsible for managing the field operations across multiple active job sites. The role requires advanced knowledge of heavy civil construction, strong leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to solving problems. The Superintendent will be responsible for project execution, safety, scheduling, coordination of subcontractors, and ensuring projects stay on time and within budget.
