About the Role: The Equipment Operator is a skilled pilot within the Airport Authority’s Field Maintenance team, operating motorized machinery crucial for maintaining safe and smooth airfield operations. Responsibilities include operating equipment for constructing and maintaining runways, taxiways, roads, and grounds, performing pre-operation inspections, and conducting repairs as needed. This position is on 1st shift, from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, Sunday through Thursday.

Compensation Range:

  • Maximum: Based on qualifications
  • Minimum: $20.47

What You’ll Do:

  • Operate and maintain equipment used for mowing, runway rubber removal, painting, snow removal, waste management, and repairs.
  • Maintain grounds and airfield safety, including debris removal and marking upkeep.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections and report repairs.
  • Assist with airport event setups and takedowns.
  • Read and replace water meters.
  • Support electrical repairs such as changing runway and parking lot lights and repairing gates.

What You Need:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • At least 2 years operating motorized construction/mowing equipment, vocational training, or labor experience

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Valid NC Driver’s License
  • CDL Class B License or ability to obtain within 9 months
