Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries, a fourth-generation family-owned company in Northern California, seeks a qualified Heavy Equipment Operator for our Quincy location. Earn a $35.43/hour wage with a $1,500 hiring bonus and comprehensive benefits.

The role involves operating a frontend loader to load/unload log trucks, sorting logs by species, climbing ladders on equipment, and learning to operate associated machinery. Overtime and weekend work may occur during busy production times.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ loader operating experience preferred.
• Proven ability to recognize and sort logs by species.
• All applicants must be at least age 18.

Responsibilities

• Operate frontend loader to load/unload log trucks.
• Sort logs by species and feed logs to the sawmill.
• Climb ladders on heavy equipment and operate machinery.
• Learn to operate chipper, heel boom loader, and plow snow with the loader in the winter.
• The work is fast-paced and can be demanding.
• Repetitive lifting and working in both hot and cold environments.
• Work may include various shifts with overtime and weekends.

Sierra Pacific Industries is a fourth-generation family-owned company that has grown to be one of the largest lumber and millwork producers in the United States. Our more than 6,000 employees are proud to work at our state-of-the-art sawmills and other facilities, including manufacturing, custom wood-framed windows, fabrication, millwork, veneer, cogeneration, trucking, forestry, and other operations. Currently, we are seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Operator to work collaboratively with our sawmill based in Quincy, California.

About The Position

• Operate frontend loader to load/unload log trucks
• Sort logs by species and feed logs to the sawmill
• Climb ladders on heavy equipment and operate machinery
• Learn to operate chipper, heel boom loader, and plow snow with the loader in the winter
• The work is fast-paced and can, at times, be demanding
• Repetitive lifting and working in both hot and cold work environments
• Work may consist of various shifts, with some overtime and weekend work during busy production times
