Job summary

Miners Underground in Kentucky is seeking an Operator to operate equipment, maintain safety standards, and coordinate with the Foreman and crew on daily tasks.

You will load/unload gear, perform vehicle/trailer inspections for DOT compliance, stock materials, and keep equipment clean and organized while guiding laborers and communicating with customers as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Set up safety devices (cones, signs, barricades, trench safety equipment).
  • Load/unload equipment and secure with chains.
  • Inspect vehicle and trailer for proper loading and DOT compliance.
  • Stock the truck with materials and supplies.
  • Keep rig/equipment clean and organized.
  • Dig with a shovel and operate hydraulic equipment.
  • Locate utilities without damaging property.
  • Guide and direct laborers.
  • Talk to customers as needed.

WHAT DOES WINNING LOOK LIKE?

These are the Success Statements that serve as the outcomes that the operator is responsible for achieving and sustaining. Success Statements are reviewed regularly in weekly/biweekly one-on-one meetings between leaders and their team members to identify if the outcome is red (not true), yellow (inconsistently true), or green (consistently true). The goal is to be green in all areas, but you won't start that way. That is the fun of the journey, working towards becoming consistent in what matters most to be successful.

  • The operator addresses safety concerns and communicates them to the team.
  • Effectively participates in the POD (Plan of Day) meeting and pre-job briefings.
  • Assists in restoring the jobsite to the highest standard.
  • Maintains a professional level of orderliness and cleanliness.
  • Operator follows process for work, and actively participates in evaluating the work done.
Tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Setting up safety devices (cones, signs, barricades, trench safety equipment, etc.)
  • Loading/Unloading equipment, chaining/unchaining equipment.
  • Performing inspection of vehicle and trailer to ensure proper loading and hooking up to a trailer to include all compliance with DOT.
  • Stocking the truck with materials/supplies
  • Keeping rig/equipment clean and organized
  • Digging with a shovel and using hydraulic equipment
  • Locate, dig up, and expose existing utilities without damaging property (using shovel or equipment)
  • Guide and direct laborers.
  • Talk to customers as needed.
