Equipment Operator (Construction)

The Equipment Operator is responsible for moving vessels for haul & launch, storage, or sales, and for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining equipment. Titles may vary based on trade, such as Equipment Operator (Service), (Storage), or (Marina).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operate heavy equipment including marine forklifts, travel lifts, and hydraulic trailers.
2. Operate machinery efficiently and safely, demonstrating proper vessel handling.
3. Move vessels in and out of water and to designated areas.
4. Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment to ensure operational readiness.
5. Perform yard work such as pressure washing, bottom painting, and vessel blocking.
6. Assist with general marina maintenance and cleanliness.
7. Work overtime as needed.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

Adhere to SHM safety and environmental policies, complete training, wear PPE, and report incidents immediately.

Technical and Physical Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years relevant experience preferred.
• Heavy forklift experience and certification required.
• Ability to work in all weather, confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Basic boat handling skills preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
