Job summary

Lancaster Airport Authority is seeking a dependable Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will diagnose, maintain, and repair a variety of airport equipment, including passenger vehicles, trucks, tractors, and diesel engines, while prioritizing safety and high performance.

You will document service records, coordinate parts, assist airfield operations (snow removal, inspections, and emergencies), and work with the Lead Mechanic on complex repairs.

Qualifications

  • Experience with diesel systems, hydraulics, and record-keeping preferred.
  • 3–5 years of mechanical experience with light and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Valid driver's license; must be at least 21 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational schooling preferred.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; outdoor work experience required.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varied weather conditions.
  • Must obtain airport movement area permit within 30 days of hire and airport badge.

Position Overview:

Lancaster Airport Authority is seeking a dependable and skilled Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively while independently managing tasks. This role requires flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to high standards of performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of airport equipment, including passenger vehicles, trucks, tractors, man lifts, diesel engines, and hydraulic systems
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and safety inspections to ensure all vehicles and equipment remain in operational and compliant condition
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records using digital or manual tracking systems
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and execute repairs with minimal supervision
  • Coordinate parts ordering and maintain an organized work environment
  • Support airfield operations as needed, including snow removal, inspections, and emergency response readiness
  • Seek technical guidance from the Lead Mechanic on complex repairs and specialized maintenance procedures
  • Contribute to a collaborative maintenance environment and support training and knowledge transfer with the lead mechanic
Qualifications:
  • Experience with diesel systems, hydraulics, and record-keeping strongly preferred
  • 3–5 years of relevant mechanical experience with both light and heavy-duty vehicles
  • Valid driver's license; must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Vehicle mechanics for truck drivers
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/trade school preferred
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Outdoor work experience (required)
  • Capable of lifting 50+ lbs. and working in varied weather conditions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport movement area driver's permit within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security badge
