Job summary

Gulf Island LLC in Houma, LA is seeking an Equipment Mechanic to repair and maintain engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems across yard equipment, cranes, forklifts, dozers, and related machines.

You will read service manuals, troubleshoot systems, operate a wide range of hand and power tools, and follow OSHA rules. Two years of experience and the ability to pass drug screening and background checks are required.

• Two years of experience in equipment maintenance.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Must pass a background check.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and accomplish work with minimal direction.

About this position

Description:

Main Purpose: Repair and maintenance engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulics, and electrical and pneumatic systems on a variety of yard equipment (i.e., hoisting equipment, manlift /scissor lifts, forklift/loaders, dozer/side booms, pipe mill, and fab shop equipment, burning equipment, painting and blasting equipment, compressors, winches, trucks, and other vehicles). The person holding this position must be able to perform various duties.

Essential Functions:

• Plan, organize, and accomplish work with minimal direction and supervision
• Climb and work on and around equipment, using ladders, steps, etc.
• Read and understand service manuals, electric, hydraulic, and air piping schematics, etc.
• Operate mechanic hand, power, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical tools
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electric, and pneumatic systems
• Use a burning torch and torque wrench
• Operate portable and shop blasting equipment
• Adhere to all Company safety rules and regulations and be familiar with all safety equipment
• Climb and work in high areas and confined spaces
• Keep work areas clean and in orderly condition
• Comply with all OSHA Safety rules and regulations
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Environmental Conditions:

80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They will also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes.
