Job summary

Mountain Crane Service seeks an Equipment Manager to own a $200M+ fixed asset base end-to-end. This hands-on role blends field coordination with accounting-grade record-keeping for cranes, trucks, mats, and tooling.

You will develop a centralized digital inventory, maintain Motive records, and coordinate annual inventories across sites, while ensuring accurate data for month-end closes and fleet planning decisions.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years in fleet, asset or equipment management (crane/ heavy equipment/ construction preferred).
  • Working knowledge of fixed asset accounting concepts (capitalization, depreciation, disposals).
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with fleet or asset management platforms; Motive a plus.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with field crews and accounting staff.

  • Reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger.
  • Coordinate with accounting on month-end close procedures.

Job description

Mountain Crane is seeking an Equipment Manager to own our $200M+ in fixed asset base from end-to-end. This is a hands on role requiring both operational field coordination and accounting-level record keeping. This position will be the single point of accountability for our assets, including cranes, trucks, trailers, rigging, hardwood mats, and tooling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a centralized digital inventory system ensuring real-time tracking and proper assignment of all cranes, boom trucks, mats, attachments, and tooling.
  • Maintain asset records and location data in Motive, ensuring information is current and accurate at all times.
  • Conduct or coordinate periodic physical inventory counts across job sites.
  • Partner with Operations and Project Managers to capture asset movements, disposals, and new acquisitions in real time.
  • Serve as the bridge between Operations and Accounting, translating field activity into accurate data.
  • Communicate proactively with field crews to maintain data integrity across all asset locations and statuses.
  • track and mange inspection certifications for cranes and rigging (ASME B30 series) on daily, monthly, and annual schedules, partnering with project managers to ensure field compliance and timely completion.
  • Provide forecasting and analysis to support fleet planning and utilization decisions.
  • Identify underutilized, aging, or at-risk assets and make recommendations to leadership.
  • Maintain organized asset files including invoices, titles, inspection records, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain the fixed asset subledger with accurate records for all assets (cost, in-service date, location, useful life, and depreciation method).
  • Process asset additions, disposals, and transfers in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger each period.
  • Coordinate with accounting on month-end close procedures.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in fleet, asset or equipment management (crane, heavy equipment, or construction industries strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of fixed asset accounting concepts (capitalization, depreciation, disposals)
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with fleet or asset management platforms, familiarity with Motive a plus.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with both field crews and accounting staff.

Pay: $80,000-$95,000 DOE
